Hiring the Right Contractor for Your Project

Let’s say that you have a construction project in mind. A beautiful vision for a brand new structure that will house your business or other businesses for years to come. Your first step in bringing this dream to life is to find a contractor. But how do you make such an important decision?

Look at Portfolios

One of the best ways to get an idea of how your project will turn out is to look at your prospective contractors’ portfolios. Look at businesses or structures that are similar to your own. Do their projects look professional or slapped together? Do they even have experience with your industry? From this process, you can also generate new ideas for your own project.

Evaluate Experience

How long have these contractors been around? You’ll want to work with a contractor that has many years of experience in the trade, not one that just popped up overnight. And make sure that experience is relevant to what you need. It doesn’t do you any good to work with a company that only does home improvement projects when you’re looking to have a warehouse built.

Find Out About Their Process

Before you get started, you’ll want to know how their process works. Do they have a streamlined way of doing things or do they just “go with the flow”? If they don’t seemed to have anything locked down as far as a method or a plan, it is probably best to avoid them.

Northstar did a great job at a commercial building I own. He soundproofed a large 3 car commercial garage and took care of some draining issues, by installing a 15’ drain and diverting the water away from the building. His estimate was very fair and he completed the work on time. I would recommend him highly .
